Serving Compressed Content

This is transparent to the user and saves bandwidth.
All you have to do is

Set the Content-Encoding header to the appropriate of gzip (best), compress, or deflate.
Wrap the output in a GZIPOutputStream or ZipOutputStream, make sure to close().

Client sends an Accept-Encoding header that specifies the acceptable encodings.
