Building a Server

• Say you want to provide the calculator web service:

public class Calculator {
  public int add(int i1, int i2)
  {
    return i1 + i2; 
  }


  public int subtract(int i1, int i2)
  {
    return i1 - i2;
  }
}

• All you need to do is

  cp Calculator.java <your-webapp-root>/axis/Calculator.jws

• You can now access it at http://localhost:8080/axis/Calculator.jws
• Axis automatically locates the file, compiles the class, and converts SOAP calls correctly into Java invocations of your service class.
• But, you need the sourcecode and you cannot specify custom type mappings or control which handlers get invoked.
